“If there is magic in this world, it is contained in water.” — Loren Eiseley

On Saturday evening the sun will set on the last day of summer. When we awaken Sunday morning, the autumnal equinox will have given us the first day of fall. This season always leaves me a bit unsettled, as I let go of the warm summer days and begin snuggling up to cool, crisp evenings and watching the colorful falling leaves, as the trees let go of what they no longer need. I am one who definitely feels the shift of the earth’s energy.

Our summer was full of some wonderful memories and an epic vacation to Colorado to visit and explore with family. Our annual trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina was as beautiful as ever, too. I realized last week that I never finished my sunset images from that week in the Outer Banks. I am so excited to finally share them with all of you!

I have vacationed in the Outer Banks every year since I was a child. It is a very special place to me. I love to walk on quiet beaches as I listen to the ocean’s song and breathe in the smells of serenity. Like a child, I still walk with excited anticipation and carry a bucket to collect the treasures that the magical ocean leaves for me to find. I have always believed the ocean was full of magic, just as the wooded forests and mountains hold secrets and treasures that wait for us to find them.

I hope these sunset images fill you with the inner peace and happiness I felt when I captured them. I love to whisper my wishes to the sun as she sets, in the hopes she will carry them into the dawn of the new day that lies ahead. May we all remember the dreams of our heart and cast them to the sun, moon and stars! Believe the magic exists and find it!

I believe it is in our DNA to be connected to nature, animals and each other. When I look through the lens of my camera, I want to highlight this connection and preserve it so you can share your story with future generations.
