Every senior has a story.

Not one that begins the day we pick up a camera, but one that’s been unfolding for years through the people they love, the places that shaped them, and the passions that quietly make them who they are.

That’s why I believe no two senior sessions should ever look the same.

Because no two seniors are the same.

They should feel like the person at the center of them.

Gabe’s senior session was exactly that.

For Gabe and his family, the realization that this season needed to be preserved came shortly before graduation.

Like so many parents, Gabe’s mom suddenly found herself standing in one of those moments that seems to arrive without warning—the realization that childhood doesn’t slowly disappear…

One day, you simply notice it’s already changing.

With college just around the corner, she knew she wanted to preserve this season before life carried Gabe into the next chapter. Not only through family photographs, but by creating a senior session that celebrated everything that makes Gabe uniquely himself.

After we booked his session, the three of us sat down together to plan every detail.

Those conversations are one of my favorite parts of the Senior Session Experience.

Because each senior has their own story.

And their session should reflect that story and everything about them that makes them who they are.

One of the first decisions we made was choosing the right location.

While many seniors dream of the beach or downtown Wilmington, Gabe immediately knew his story belonged somewhere else.

His grandparents’ property.

A place woven into countless childhood memories. A place where family has gathered for years. A place that already held part of his story long before I ever picked up my camera.

Some locations are beautiful.

Others are meaningful.

This one was both.

Summer in coastal North Carolina always keeps photographers on their toes.

As we began Gabe’s session, thunder echoed in the distance and flashes of lightning reminded us the forecast wasn’t just a prediction—it was getting closer.

We kept one eye on the sky and one eye on the light.

Somehow, we photographed his entire session just before the first drops of rain began to fall.

It felt like the evening had been waiting for us.

If you’ve spent even a few minutes with Gabe, it’s easy to see what lights him up.

Music.

Books.

Writing.

Quiet creativity.

Instead of asking him to become someone different for the camera, we built his session around the things he already loves.

His guitar wasn’t just a prop.

It was part of his story.

The books he carried weren’t there to fill his hands.

They reflected the curiosity and imagination that make him who he is.

Every detail became another chapter in the story we were telling together.

One of my favorite things about photographing seniors is watching their personalities unfold throughout a session.

Especially with the guys.

Many arrive wondering if senior pictures will feel awkward or forced.

The truth is…

They shouldn’t.

Your senior session isn’t about pretending to be someone you’re not.

It’s about preserving who you are before life changes once again.

Whether your story is written in music, sports, books, fishing, cars, art, quiet moments, or adventures still waiting to happen, your photographs should reflect the life you’ve lived—not someone else’s idea of what senior pictures should look like.

Because every senior deserves more than a collection of poses.

They deserve photographs that feel like home.

This fall, Gabe begins an exciting new chapter at St. John’s College in Maryland.

While the road ahead is full of new adventures, this gallery will always bring him—and the people who love him most—back to the young man he was in this remarkable season of life.

And years from now, I hope these photographs remind his family of more than what he looked like.

I hope they remember his quiet confidence.

His creativity.

His love of music and words.

The place that helped shape him.

And the story that was already unfolding before he stepped into everything that comes next.

Congratulations, Gabe.

I can’t wait to see where your story leads.
