Seniors, The Senior Session Experience

There is something about the beginning of senior year that feels different.

For years, it has been somewhere out there in the distance.

Someday I’ll be a senior.

And then, almost without warning, someday becomes now.

For the Class of 2027, that moment has arrived.

The Beginning of the Last Year

Our August Senior Rep Team adventure came just before these girls headed back to school and walked through those doors as seniors for the very first time.

So this month’s shoot felt like the perfect opportunity to celebrate the beginning of everything that is still to come.

We met along the Intracoastal Waterway on Topsail Island with bouquets of flowers, balloons, and absolutely no shortage of summer sunshine.

We laughed. We wandered along the water. We worked around fishermen enjoying their evening along the shoreline. And together, we marked the beginning of a year these girls have been waiting for.

Because it begins now.

The last first day.

The last football season.

The last homecoming.

The last holiday break before graduation.

There will be college applications and acceptance letters. Decisions about what comes next. Celebrations, changes, unexpected turns, and probably a few tears along the way.

There will be so many lasts.

But there will also be firsts they don’t even know are coming yet.

New friendships. New opportunities. New dreams. Moments that will quietly shape who they are becoming.

That’s the beautiful thing about senior year.

You begin it knowing it’s an ending.

But somewhere along the way, you realize it’s also the beginning of everything that comes next.

And They Get to Walk Through It Together

One of my favorite parts of creating the Sage Willow Senior Rep Team has very little to do with photographs.

It’s watching this happen.

When these girls first came together earlier this year, most of them didn’t know one another. They came from different schools, different towns, and different circles.

And now?

They’re friends.

I’ve watched the awkwardness of those first introductions disappear. I’ve watched them laugh together, encourage one another, celebrate one another, and become increasingly comfortable simply being themselves.

And as their photographer, I’ve had the privilege of getting to know them, too.

I’m learning about the things they love. The things they’re good at. The dreams they’re carrying with them. The possibilities they’re considering for life after graduation.

That’s why this team was never meant to simply be a group of seniors who meet once a month to take pretty pictures.

The photographs are part of it, of course.

But the experience is the story.

It’s showing up month after month and trying something new.

It’s building confidence.

It’s finding connection in unexpected places.

It’s having people beside you who understand exactly how strange and exciting and bittersweet this particular year can feel.

And it’s creating a collection of memories along the way that will someday tell the story of who you were before everything changed.

This Is Their Year

Soon, these girls will be standing in caps and gowns.

But we’re not there yet.

There is an entire senior year waiting to be lived first.

So let’s not rush it.

Let’s celebrate the lasts.

Let’s welcome the firsts.

Let’s chase a little more light, make a lot more memories, and leave room for all the unexpected things that will happen between now and graduation.

Let’s begin this final year and embrace everything that is still to come…

together.

Class of 2027, This Is Your Moment

If you’re beginning your senior year right now, I hope you know this:

You don’t have to wait until graduation to celebrate who you’ve become.

This version of you matters, too.

Your interests. Your style. Your accomplishments. The places you love. The things that make you laugh. The dreams you’re still figuring out. Even the pieces of yourself that may look completely different a year from now.

This is your year.

And your senior photographs should tell your story—not someone else’s version of what senior pictures are supposed to look like.

The Sage Willow Signature Senior Session Experience is designed around you from the very beginning. We dream, plan, create, and build a session that feels personal because you are worth more than a cookie-cutter experience.

Before you head off toward whatever grand adventure waits beyond graduation, let’s create something that remembers exactly who you were right here.

Class of 2028… Your Turn Is Coming

And to the juniors watching from just behind them—your moment isn’t nearly as far away as it feels.

If you’ve been following the Sage Willow Senior Rep Team and thinking, I want to be part of something like that, stay close.

Your turn is coming.

Senior Rep Team applications for the Class of 2028 will open in March 2027, and an entirely new year of friendships, adventures, creativity, and memories will begin.

And if you’re already dreaming about your own Signature Senior Session Experience, you don’t have to wait to start imagining it.

Think about what you want it to feel like.

Think about the places that feel like you, the things you love right now, and the story you’d want these photographs to tell someday.

Then let’s start dreaming together.

Because your senior year will arrive sooner than you think.

And when it does?

It begins now.
