When I returned from my own family vacation in early August, I had two sessions booked that first week back. If you don’t already know, I am a bit different from most photographers in that I only take a select number of sessions each week. I don’t fill my weeks with multiple sessions. Why? Because I offer a high-level client experience and if my days are stacked with sessions, that exceptional level of service suffers.
Early that week I received an inquiry to photograph another family visiting that same week. The entire week’s forecast was full of rain, thunderstorms and cloudy days. Not the kind of forecast that puts a photographer at ease! Despite the gloomy forecast and already having two sessions booked, I gratefully booked that third session, the maximum number of sessions I will shoot in a week’s time.
The rain and storms delayed sessions earlier that week, but God answered my prayers and provided some beautiful evenings that allowed me to get back on schedule. Friday evening still brought the threat of storms, but again, with prayers answered, those storms pushed just north of us, creating this incredible sky, full of clouds and colors…and no rain!
I met up with the Whitcomb Family and immediately knew we were going to have a really fun evening together! We’d previously discussed all the different focal points of the session, which included a 70th birthday, a precious new baby, and a gender-reveal for a pregnancy! We set up on the beach in North Topsail and started their session.
There is so much joy in this family and their joy came through in each of the photographs we captured! The kids did a fantastic job being patient as we photographed their family. Sure, there were some tears at times and getting bored with taking pictures…but these are all normal things that happen during a session! You just learn to roll with it and find ways to bring those happy faces back!
We captured a gallery full of beautiful photographs that tell their story so perfectly! Oh…and that gender-reveal? IT’S A GIRL!!! Their third one! What a blessing!
